Kirtan Aid, Orphans of Rishikesh - Various Artists complete

Kirtan Aid is a benefit music project featuring many of today's stars of the kirtan and mantra music scene such as Deva Premal, Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, Jai Uttal, Dave Stringer and many others. This is an uplifting and refreshingly eclectic compilation of popular chants and mantras, aiming to bring together the power of sacred chants and mantras with real actions to actively make a difference where it's needed most!

Tucked away in the foothills of the Himalayas, high on a hill overlooking the Ganges River and holy pilgrimage city of Rishikesh, is a haven and home for destitute children.
This home is called Ramana's Garden, named after an Indian saint and run by a woman named Prabhavati Dwabha, whose life's work is helping abused and abandoned children. This magical home has what it calls a 'Star School', an organic garden and offers programs for playful healing and spiritual growth - all essential tools in rehabilitating children who have fallen victim to tragedy. And there are many more children living on the streets without access to a home, an education, or good food and health care.

The Kirtan Aid project invites us to come together to support Ramana's garden to build a new dormitory for the children and thereby give them the chance for a better life: 100% of profits from the sale of this album will be donated to help build a 'green' sustainable dormitory at Ramana's Garden to provide a home for an increased number of children in this remarkable place.

Many of the artists who provided their music for this album have already been to Ramana's garden singing along with the children and agreed that this is truly life changing! By purchasing this Kirtan Aid CD you are helping to build a house for the orphans of Rishikesh!
