ANHAD is a Sikh rock band formed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009. Their instrumentation shows the band's musical path, ranging from electric guitars, bass and acoustic guitars to vaaja, organ, tabla, cajon, drums, tambourine and, of course, great vocals. Anhad's music is unique and stands out from the genre of spiritual music, you really don't hear music like this every day. On their album Live - Unheard, the musicians from Anhad merge traditional Sikh music styles and mantras, which are also used in Kundalini Yoga according to Yogi Bhajan, with modern music and contemporary sounds, which gives their music a whole new dimension that "rocks & grooves". !

Anhad's music has been influenced by a wide range of well-known bands and artists such as Tool, Snatam Kaur, Oasis, Guru Ganesha Singh, Metallica, Sat Jot Singh, U2, Mirabai Ceiba, Kula Shaker, Guru Singh, Jeff Buckley, Gurunam Singh, Nine Inch Nails , SiriOm Singh, Coldplay, Nusrat and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Pearl Jam, Sri Dasmesh Jatha, Junoon, Singh Kaur, The Diplomats of Drum, Acapella Jatha, and Porcupine Tree. And while Anhad's music lets you hear a bit of all of these artists, the band manages to develop a style all their own, free, playful and wide open - and it's fun to hear that. Their music is carried throughout by a vibration of love for God.

The band ANHAD themselves say about their music: ”We always hoped to one day hear a band that would combine Western music with Eastern influences. As we grew up, we enjoyed listening to the best kirtan music of our time. At the same time bands like Oasis, Coldplay and U2 became more and more popular in the world around us. And when we weren't singing the anthems of our gurus, we sang songs like Wonderwall, Where The Streets Have No Name, and In My Place at the top of our lungs, and at times we wished these two worlds would meet. We believe that God is part of every breath and every moment of our day. Not just the good moments, or those we spend in His memory. And that means that He is always there when we hug someone, when we go to a rock concert, when we dance the bhangara, when we meet someone, or when we watch YouTube videos. He is always present. Now we are happy for the fact that we were able to make him a part of our most loved music.”
